We now get a lot of pitches weekly, and welcome them all.
However, the guidelines below streamline the process, to ensure we get only one email per pitch, with all the information we need. As a result, as of November 1, 2017 pitches that do not follow the guidelines will be DELETED.
Please do not send emails requesting permission to send a guest post query, or to give us a heads-up that you will soon pitch us a guest post. Please only pitch us via the guidelines below.
How to Submit Guest Posts
- Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org
- Your subject line should say: PITCH COLLEGE MATE: [insert working title here].
- Tell us a little about yourself and include a bio of 50 words or less to be included with your post, if accepted. The bio must be written in 3rd person. You can include a photo of yourself or a logo you own; links to social media accounts; and mention your pet projects and blogs you run. Remaining anonymous is also an option.
- Tell us about the story, idea, or article you would like to contribute; and provide a brief outline.
- If you intend to write the article yourself, please include two writing samples.
- You don’t need to wait for a response to pitch another idea, but please do not include more than one idea per email.
- Please note: we only link back to social media accounts and Amazon (mostly for authors) in the article, including the bio. If you wish to include a link to a company website, non-personal blog etc., please see our company’s sponsored posts page for rates.
What to Expect
- Not all submissions will be accepted, but you can expect a response in about 72 hours. If we reject your offer, feel free to pitch us something else.
- Submissions that do not meet our guidelines are automatically deleted without response.
- We will promote your post on our Twitter and Facebook, pages, and often share them on our partners’ as well, if the content matches their content management plan.
- We also re-blog posts on partners’ websites from time to time, if the content you provide is compatible with their needs. This exposes writers to a larger audience.
General Criteria for Submitted Articles
- TONE: A conversational tone between colleagues — not to be confused with the conversational tone one would use with friends.
- Headers to organize information into blocks of knowledge, or a series of events.
- Smaller paragraphs to break text into more easily digestible chunks.
- WRITING STYLE: Articles are either a prose/story, or advice — never both.
